Sensory Tools for Neurodiverse Students

We all want to create an inclusive classroom for every learner who walks through our doors. The neurodiversity-affirming movement teaches us that our neurodivergent students struggle because they must live in a world that was not created with their sensory needs in mind. I think that all of the resources below would be an excellent addition to ANY classroom. However, if you are short on funds (and who isn’t?), it might be wise to determine what tools would be MOST beneficial to your student. Then, you can buy what you need after that!

An easy way to assess your student’s sensory needs is with this student-led sensory self-survey. It is a neurodiversity-affirming survey that teaches students about their sensory needs so they can advocate for themselves!
